Do I need a permit to renovate my kitchen in Scarborough?
A permit is required if you're moving plumbing or gas lines, changing electrical service, or altering structural walls (e.g. opening a kitchen to a living room). Cosmetic updates — cabinets, countertops, flooring, backsplash — generally don't require one. We assess this during the site visit and handle the full City of Toronto application if it's needed.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A cosmetic refresh (cabinets, counters, flooring) typically runs 2-4 weeks. A full gut renovation involving layout changes, electrical, and plumbing usually takes 6-10 weeks, depending on permit timelines and material lead times. We give you a specific schedule after the site assessment.
Can you keep my kitchen partly usable during the renovation?
For cosmetic and mid-scope projects, yes — we sequence work to keep water and some counter space available where possible. For full gut renovations involving plumbing and electrical rough-in, the kitchen will be out of commission for part of the project; we'll tell you exactly which weeks upfront so you can plan.
Do you handle the design as well as the construction?
